HERTZ GASTRONOMIC GUIDE TO TAHANAN BISTRO (Antipolo)

Tahanan Bistro is a casual fine dining restaurant located on the hills of Antipolo, overlooking an open garden, forestry, and a view of Laguna de Bay. The dining area is set with floor to ceiling sliding doors, bringing the outdoors closer to you.

This is the brainchild of the artist Benji Reyes. His home or perhaps his Tahanan is the perfect place for private dining near the city. Together with his partner Chef Kevin Tuason, who graduated from the culinary school of Academia International in Melbourne, the bistro offers a set men that pays homage to Philippine produce. It’s Filipino food presented Melbourne- style, enjoyed in a casual-fine home dining ambiance.

Having opened in 2016, Tahanan Bistro isn’t new to the restaurant scene, but it’s a hidden gem not really knows to many. The 32-seater lounge sits on a 500 sq meter property. It is  intimate, tranquil and evocative of the peaceful regional life.

Our favorite is the Deck, which is a more intimate area in an al fesco Chef’s Table setting surrounded by an awesome view. Decorated with local hardwood, flora, and fauna in every direction, everything about the place represents being a  “home”.

A GASTRONOMIC FARE

Chef Kevin and his team merged elements of different culinary cuisines to present innovations of traditional dishes. The food hinges from the fresh produce and indigenous flavours found from the various regions from the Philippines executed with French culinary technique.

The meal starts with these small bites, made from scratch by the chef to tease the palate. Every quarter, they bring to you new selections of set menus, revamping the previous.

Price Point: Each five-course meal is valued at ₱1,200.00 inclusive of VAT.
